My name is Pauline McKinnon.

What is Stillness Meditation and how can it help you?
Stillness Meditation is a medically based form of meditation that exists outside of a cultural or religious context. It was Dr Ainslie Meares who pioneered the link between anxiety and immune dysfunction. Recognizing that too much anxiety inhibits the immune system leaving the way open for disease, he used his form of meditation with cancer patients and led the way to mind-body medicine as we know it today. The practice of Stillness Meditation therefore may assist in preventing specific disease.

Dr Meares considered his meditative approach to be ‘the body’s own natural way of coping with distress’. So Stillness Meditation is very practical and appropriate for all age groups, belief systems, temperaments and constitutions.
